The Essential Movements of Lecoq
July 21-25
Teacher: Yuval Boim
Jacques Lecoq developed a series of movements created through observation of the world around us and used in his pedagogy for the analysis of movement. They strengthen the actor’s body and increase awareness, concentration and presence. They reawaken neural pathways in the body that generate a sense of playfulness in the performer and create a launch point to rich internal life. This workshop invites the artist to take on the movements of the world, from observation to practice, in order to unleash their dramatic potential. Students will analyze a number of these movements (known at his school as The Twenty Movements), exploring and unveiling hidden meanings within them. Students will experience deeply personal encounters with these movements, connecting the individual to the ensemble and investigating the endless possibilities of space, time, rhythm and shape.
Hours: July 21st - 25th, 10a.m. - 4 p.m. (with an hour off for lunch)
